The U.S. has imposed visa restrictions on a number of Somali officials, including regional leaders, suspected of obstructing the electoral process. This is in response to the missed deadline for the completion of Somalia’s long-delayed elections.

According to Washington, the travel ban is intended to promote accountability and punish Somali officials who obstruct the electoral process

As the election nearing, terrorists’ bombings occurred where people including politicians were killed.

Somalia’s electoral calendar has been repeatedly shifted and elections delayed. The terrorist bombing seems coordinated and with intent to stop the election. Who is behind this? Is US sanctions to Somali officials somehow related to this terrorism incidents?
