Violent arrests shed light on Iran’s security forces’ brutality

A video recently published on social media shows the state security forces’ brutality while arresting two men in Chalus, a suburb of Tehran, the Iranian capital.

In the video, which was posted on social media on Thursday, May 31, two agents are seen violently detaining a citizen on charges of “robbery” and beating him while using vulgar words.

In another video recently shared online, armed police are seen spraying teargas in a man’s eye, then punching and kicking him while shoving him in their car.

The officer yells to bystanders: “We’ll detain all of you… I’ll empty my gun on you all.”

Another scene of Iran’s security forces’ brutality was at Latian Dam, Tehran, when they attacked and violently arrested a woman on May 6, 2022.

According to videos, both State Security Forces and plainclothes agents were involved in the harassment and arrest of the woman.

The video of the incident caused outrage on social media and across the Iranian public.
