Iran conflicting reports on massive refinery fire in capital
Iranian officials have stated conflicting narratives about a huge fire at an oil refinery in Tehran. The fire broke out yesterday at around 7:30 pm local time at the Tondguyan Oil Refinery just south of the capital and was contained today according to the spokesperson of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.
Early on Thursday, state media reported that the fire had started again at the Tondguyan Refinery leading to an explosion of one the large reservoirs. However, the Public Relations Office of the Refinery denied the explosion.
Shaker Khafaie said reports of on explosion were spread by “dissident media” and blamed the sound of numerous explosions on “the falling of sheets inside the tanks”.
Proof that Iran state medias cannot be trusted.
