The Secretary of the Egyptian Parliament’s Manpower Committee, MP Abdel Fattah Mohamed, said he has submitted a bill requiring the dismissal of public sector employees with links to the Muslim Brotherhood, local media reported.

The lawmaker said the draft law stipulates that if “following investigations” a civil servant is found to be a member of the Muslim Brotherhood “terrorist group” or to sympathise with it, he/she will be permanently dismissed from duty, the Al-Shorouk newspaper reported.

Egypt has classified the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, after overthrowing the country’s first democratically elected president, the late Mohamed Morsi who stemmed from the movement, in a bloody military coup in 2013.
